Summary:

A Child Called "It" is about the childhood of David Peltzer. While growing up, he is continuously abused and starved by his mother, who is an alcoholic. His mother comes very close to killing David several times by playing little "games" with him.

David lived in the basement of his California house. He had nobody there for him, not even his father or brothers, who all turned their backs on him. Even through the starvation and beatings, David managed to live through it all. The only thing that really helped him get through each day was the hopes and dreams to one day have a caring and loving family.

Opinion:

In my opinion, A Child Called "It" was a great book. In parts of this book, it becomes quite descriptive with David’s punishments, which is quite disturbing. Once you begin reading this book, it is hard to put down.
