Summary: |
This book is a series of three short stories that are translations by J. R. R. Tolkien of chivalry, holy quests and past events that occurred in the medieval times. The stories take place around the kingship of King Arthur of England. The stories are collections of poetry that have been lost and found by J. R. R. Tolkien. The stories have been combined to make a single book of three short stories that have all been translated into long poems telling tales of old.
The first story is about one of the great knights of King Arthur’s round table, who goes on a mystical quest of many adventures to seek out the Green Knight. The second story is an allegory about the poet’s daughter’s death and he describes his loss and his pains. The third story is about Sir Orfeo who was once a great king of England and the poem tells about Orfeo’s great deeds and fame as king. |
