Summary:

This book, Late Bloomer, by Fern Michaels, is about a childhood tragedy that is covered up for twenty years before the victim returns home and is forced to face the accident and regain her memories of that fateful day. Cady Jordan, the main character, was seriously injured in an accident when she was ten years old. The thirteen year old town bully was killed in the same accident. After years of rehabilitation, Cady still had no memories of that tragic day. When she is thirty, Cady learns her grandmother, Lola, the only person who truly ever cared for her when she was hurt, is failing. To care for Lola, Cady has to go home to Indigo Valley, Pennsylvania, a place she hasn't been since the day of the accident.

For both her and her grandmother's peace of mind, Cady becomes determined to regain her memory from the event that changed her life. While working towards this goal, she reacquaints herself with her childhood friends, friends who have a lot more knowledge of the accident than Cady realizes. As she dives deeper and deeper into the history of that day, she begins to lose her fears and inhibitions. Soon she questions her old friends. Each has her own comfortable, safe lives now, and if the events of that day are remembered and released those lives could be ruined.

Opinion:

I really enjoyed the mystery of this book. It made you wonder what really happened and kept you in suspense until the very end. Even as the book seems to be ending more comes out that surprises you completely. Late Bloomer also leaves you with questions about what a person does when she is in a tragic situation. It makes you wonder what you yourself would do.
