Summary:

Cold is returning to the world, and sinister supernatural forces are gathering north of the kingdom's protective wall. These forces of undead are called ‘The Others.’ The Starks of Winterfell live in these harsh northern lands.

When the King’s Hand is mysteriously killed, Ned Stark is forced to move south to take over his position and to investigate the cause of his death. Ned uncovers important information about the Queen’s involvement in many traitorous activities. A hunting accident kills the King, and there is a conflict that leads to a war between the Starks and the Queen.

Opinion:

This was a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy. There are many plot twists that keeps the story very interesting. Most of the plot is left unresolved in this book, so it’s necessary to read the rest of the series.
