Summary: |
After a terrible accident, a military-developed germ weapon called the Superflu is released on the world. The deadly, highly communicable disease wipes out 99.6% of the world's population in a matter of weeks. In this post-apocalyptic setting, King tells his tail from multiple viewpoints of a world where cities remained, but the people were dead. These precious few survivors share one thing in common: a dream. This dream draws them together, and they slowly begin to work on rebuilding civilization. However, in the West, a dark, mysterious man is gathering other people to him. This man brings all the evil people left in the world together, and he plans to destroy all that is good. Together, the motley group of heroes in the East prepares to make their stand against him. |

Opinion: |
I thoroughly enjoyed this powerful epic because of its unique setting and the style it was written in. It is a classic tale of Good V.S. Evil, and has an exciting climax. No matter what kind of book you like, I believe any reader would enjoy Steven King's The Stand. |
