Summary: |
About A Boy is a story in which an out of place twelve-year-old, Marcus, befriends a selfish thirty-year-old, Will. When single Will goes to a SPAT (single parents alone together) meeting to pick up single moms, he doesn’t intend to run into Fiona and her son Marcus. From this point on, Will is sucked into the middle of Marcus and Fiona’s unique lives. Between Fiona trying to commit suicide and Marcus getting harassed at school, Will went from being a loner to an instant father figure. This is not a total loss for Will because he can use Marcus to pick up women and make himself seem interesting. In the end Marcus does take on the son role in Will’s life, making both of them have something they have never really had before… a family.

Opinion: |
I really enjoyed this book for its humor, diverse emotions, and down to Earth feel. You can really connect to the characters and see where each one is coming from. I have seen the movie; however I have to say that the book is better. |
